Market & Game Performance

Dynamic ranking: Rummy – Fun & Friends climbs 42 places, while Bắn Cá GenZ enters the Top 30

AppMagic data this week shows notable movement across the middle and lower sections of Vietnam’s Top 50 mobile game revenue ranking. Rummy – Fun & Friends recorded the strongest overall rise, climbing 42 places to #19 while more than doubling its revenue from the previous week. Meanwhile, Bắn Cá GenZ rose 30 places to #29 and Vườn Hoa Hạnh Phúc – Gzone climbed 23 places to #47, with both entering the Top 50 during their early post-launch period. [1]

Rank Spike: Six titles record significant ranking gains

Six games climbed by at least 10 positions compared with the previous week:

  • Rummy – Fun & Friends climbed 42 places, from #61 to #19, with estimated revenue of around USD 24,290.
  • Nhất Niệm Tiêu Dao – Gzone rose 12 places, from #38 to #26, with estimated revenue of around USD 21,944.
  • Bắn Cá GenZ climbed 30 places, from #59 to #29, with estimated revenue of around USD 18,272.
  • Garena® Delta Force rose 12 places, from #52 to #40, with estimated revenue of around USD 14,659.
  • WARPATH: HUÂN CHƯƠNG CHIẾN HỎA climbed 36 places, from #77 to #41, with estimated revenue of around USD 14,557.
  • Vườn Hoa Hạnh Phúc – Gzone rose 23 places, from #70 to #47, with estimated revenue of around USD 11,490. [1]

Notably, four of these six titles were still outside the Top 50 in the previous week. This means the movement was driven not only by games already within the ranking changing positions, but also by a group of titles either returning to or newly entering the Top 50.

Revenue Spike: Rummy – Fun & Friends revenue rises 143.68%

Rummy – Fun & Friends was the only title in this week’s Top 50 to more than double its revenue from the previous week. Estimated revenue rose from approximately USD 9,968 to USD 24,290, equivalent to a 143.68% increase, while the game climbed from #61 to #19. [1]

This was the strongest combined movement in both revenue and ranking during the week. However, there is currently no sufficiently clear public information about a major campaign or LiveOps event taking place specifically between August 17 and 23 that could directly explain the surge. The performance of Rummy – Fun & Friends is therefore better treated as a notable market signal rather than attributed to a specific cause.

New Release: Bắn Cá GenZ and Vườn Hoa Hạnh Phúc enter the Top 50

Two games released within the past three months moved into the Top 50 after ranking outside it in the previous week:

  • Bắn Cá GenZ, at #29, with estimated revenue of around USD 18,272.
  • Vườn Hoa Hạnh Phúc – Gzone, at #47, with estimated revenue of around USD 11,490. [1]

Among them, Bắn Cá GenZ stood out by climbing 30 places in a single week and moving directly into the Top 30.

During the same period, Version 1.5 of Bắn Cá GenZ was updated on the App Store with a series of Anniversary Festival-themed additions, including new special fish, companions, cannon platforms and collectibles, alongside activities such as Festival Treasure, Festival Check-in, Era Road, and an Anniversary Cumulative Top-up event. [2]

Combining login rewards and collectibles with a cumulative top-up event gives players both reasons to return and direct opportunities to spend. The timing suggests that this wave of content may have contributed to Bắn Cá GenZ’s ranking growth during the week, although the available data is not sufficient to quantify its exact impact. [2]

For recently launched games, the case shows that post-launch performance does not have to rely solely on initial user acquisition. A well-defined LiveOps cycle—particularly one combining new content, events, and monetization—can create another opportunity to regain player attention during the first few months of operation.

Back-to-top: Four titles return to the Top 50

Four games released more than three months ago returned to the Top 50 after ranking outside it in the previous week:

  • Rummy – Fun & Friends, at #19, with revenue of around USD 24,290.
  • Garena® Delta Force, at #40, with revenue of around USD 14,659.
  • WARPATH: HUÂN CHƯƠNG CHIẾN HỎA, at #41, with revenue of around USD 14,557.
  • Lords Mobile – Gamota, at #42, with revenue of around USD 13,965. [1]

Within this group, Rummy – Fun & Friends and WARPATH recorded the strongest returns, climbing 42 and 36 places respectively. The fact that titles spanning card games, shooters, and strategy all returned to the Top 50 again shows that revenue reactivation this week was not concentrated in a single genre.

New Releases & Major Updates: A new strategy title launches as a long-running MMORPG expands progression

Tam Quốc: Tranh Bá Thiên Hạ officially launches in Vietnam

On August 21, Tam Quốc: Tranh Bá Thiên Hạ officially launched in Vietnam under MOC Games. The Three Kingdoms-themed SLG focuses on real-time strategic maps, alliance development, siege warfare, and territorial competition. [3]

From the opening of its servers, the game introduced its S1 Alliance Competition alongside activities involving KOLs and player communities. This approach makes alliance competition part of the launch campaign itself rather than relying only on login rewards or individual progression activities. [3]

The arrival of another Three Kingdoms SLG suggests that the setting remains a familiar framework for strategy games in Vietnam. However, in a segment where many titles already share similar IP themes and alliance-siege systems, differentiation through strategic depth, social mechanics, and seasonal operations will increasingly matter more than the Three Kingdoms theme alone.

Tân Thiên Long prepares to raise its level cap to 129 after more than a decade

During the week, Tân Thiên Long revealed details of its major Phá Cảnh Đăng Phong update, scheduled to launch on August 26. The most notable change is an increase in the character level cap from 119 to 129, after more than a decade at the previous limit. [4][5]

The higher level cap brings several additional progression layers. The maximum Công Lực level will increase from 100 to 200, new Công Pháp tiers will become available, while players will gain access to additional Tuyệt Học and equipment refinement systems at higher levels. [5]

For an MMORPG that has operated for many years, expanding endgame depth has a different role from running a short-term event. It gives long-term players additional character development goals while creating more room for future content cycles.

The actual impact on retention and player spending will need to be assessed after the update goes live on August 26. Still, the move provides a useful example of how a long-running game can extend its progression systems to support a longer product lifecycle.

Esports & Community

Esports Highlights & Tournament Updates: MVK secures a Worlds berth as TFT expands community competition

MVK Esports secures a place at Worlds 2026

On August 22, MVK Esports defeated GAM Esports 3–2 in the LCP 2026 Split 3 Playoffs. The victory guaranteed MVK at least a Top 3 finish and secured its qualification for the League of Legends World Championship 2026 through Championship Points. [6]

The best-of-five series went the full distance, with GAM taking Games 1 and 3 before MVK closed out the deciding fifth game. The result allowed MVK to continue its playoff run while officially securing its Worlds berth. [6]

Another Vietnamese organization reaching the global stage further expands Vietnam’s presence within the international League of Legends ecosystem. More importantly, having multiple domestic organizations capable of competing for Worlds qualification means media value and community attention do not have to remain concentrated around a single leading team.

For brands and industry partners, this greater competitive depth also creates more opportunities to reach Vietnamese esports audiences through teams, tournaments, and community activities surrounding the international season.

Đấu Trường Hỗn Chiến Season 3 opens a pathway to the TFT Vegas Open 2026

On August 18, VNGGames announced Đấu Trường Hỗn Chiến Season 3, an offline event for Vietnam’s Teamfight Tactics community scheduled for September 12–13 in Ho Chi Minh City. The event carries a total prize pool of VND 400 million. [7]

Season 3 will feature three competition formats: Individual, Duo, and—introduced for the first time—a 4v4 Team format. The Individual category alone offers VND 300 million in prizes and provides an opportunity to represent Vietnam at the TFT Vegas Open 2026, with travel and accommodation support included. [7]

The event shows how community esports in Vietnam is increasingly combining competition, offline experiences, and pathways to international events. This model can help narrow the gap between the broader player community and competitive esports while creating additional ways for players to engage with a game beyond the client itself.

Policy & Infrastructure

Regulatory Developments & Compliance Updates: Cultural Industry Development Bill enters the appraisal stage

On August 22, Vietnam’s Ministry of Justice published the appraisal materials for the proposed Law on Cultural Industry Development, marking another procedural step following the drafting and consultation activities carried out throughout August. [8]

One day earlier, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism further clarified proposals related to investment support and incentives. Under the current draft, investment in cultural industry infrastructure is proposed for the category of specially encouraged investment, while the production and provision of cultural industry products may also receive support under applicable investment, tax, land, and related regulations. [9]

Under the current structure of the draft law, Software and Entertainment Games are identified as one of 10 key cultural industry sectors, alongside film, advertising, creative design, publishing, and other areas. [10]

For the game industry, proposals involving intellectual property, infrastructure, investment, and commercialization are particularly worth monitoring because they could affect the ability of domestic studios to scale as well as Vietnam’s attractiveness to international partners and capital.

However, the bill remains under appraisal and is still moving through the legislative process. The proposed support and incentive mechanisms are not yet effective policies, nor should they be assumed to apply to all game companies in their current form once the law is finalized.
