Market & Game Performance

Dynamic ranking: Đội Tướng Nhí Nhố surges as Tam Quốc: Tranh Bá Thiên Hạ enters the Top 30

AppMagic data this week shows notable movement across the middle and lower sections of Vietnam’s Top 50 mobile game revenue ranking. Đội Tướng Nhí Nhố recorded the strongest gain, with its iOS listing climbing 64 places to #31 while revenue more than doubled from the previous week. Meanwhile, Tam Quốc: Tranh Bá Thiên Hạ entered the Top 50 for the first time at #30.

One point worth noting is that AppMagic tracks Đội Tướng Nhí Nhố as two separate platform listings. This week, its Android listing ranked #25 with estimated revenue of USD 21,899, while the iOS listing ranked #31 with USD 18,298. For title-level analysis, the two listings are therefore treated as the same game rather than two separate New Releases.

Rank Spike: Four titles record significant ranking gains

Four games climbed by at least 10 positions compared with the previous week:

  • Honkai: Star Rail – 3T Online rose 12 places to #23, with estimated revenue of around USD 23,023.
  • WARPATH: HUÂN CHƯƠNG CHIẾN HỎA climbed 13 places to #28, with estimated revenue of around USD 20,349.
  • Đội Tướng Nhí Nhố on iOS jumped 64 places, from #95 to #31, with estimated revenue of around USD 18,298.
  • Path of Titans rose 14 places to #50, with estimated revenue of around USD 12,126. [1]

Among them, Đội Tướng Nhí Nhố recorded the largest ranking movement, while Honkai: Star Rail – 3T Online reached the highest position among this week’s major climbers.

Revenue Spike: Đội Tướng Nhí Nhố revenue rises 146.01% on iOS

The iOS listing of Đội Tướng Nhí Nhố was the only title in this week’s Top 50 to more than double its revenue from the previous week. Estimated revenue increased from USD 7,438 to USD 18,298, equivalent to a 146.01% increase, while its ranking jumped from #95 to #31. [1]

The surge came shortly after the game officially launched in Vietnam. On August 26, Google Play recorded a new update introducing the limited-time Tiên Cảnh Đào Nguyên event, where players could obtain the Hồ Yêu Khỉ La skin, alongside bug fixes and stability improvements. The store page also highlighted launch-period benefits including 2,026 summons for new players. [2]

Meanwhile, promotional coverage published on August 25 continued to highlight the game’s roster of characters inspired by well-known figures from Chinese history, its idle resource accumulation mechanics, and newcomer rewards such as summons, limited skins, and selectable heroes. [3]

The overlap between the launch period, newcomer benefits, and the new limited-time event may have helped sustain player interest and create additional spending opportunities during the game’s first full week of operation. However, because AppMagic separates Android and iOS data and does not break revenue down by individual event, the specific contribution of each activity to the 146.01% increase cannot be determined.

The case shows that a launch campaign for a new game does not necessarily end when servers open. Following launch immediately with limited events, collectibles, and summoning incentives can help sustain engagement and monetization momentum during the critical early weeks rather than allowing attention to fall away quickly.

New Release: Đội Tướng Nhí Nhố and Tam Quốc: Tranh Bá Thiên Hạ enter the Top 50

At the title level, two games released within the past three months entered the Top 50 this week:

  • Đội Tướng Nhí Nhố: the Android listing ranked #25 with estimated revenue of around USD 21,899, while the iOS listing ranked #31 with approximately USD 18,298.
  • Tam Quốc: Tranh Bá Thiên Hạ ranked #30, with estimated revenue of around USD 19,446. [1]

Both titles reaching the Top 31 during their early operating period is a positive initial signal for revenue generation. However, one week of ranking performance is not enough to assess long-term momentum. Player retention, LiveOps execution, and the ability to sustain spending beyond the launch period will be more meaningful indicators to watch over the coming weeks.

Back-to-top: Four titles return to the Top 50

Four games released more than three months ago returned to the Top 50 after ranking outside it in the previous week:

  • June’s Journey: Hidden Objects, at #27, with revenue of around USD 20,462.
  • Đấu Trường Chân Lý: LMHT Teamfight Tactics, at #37, with revenue of around USD 16,165.
  • Sky: Children of the Light, at #42, with revenue of around USD 14,779.
  • Path of Titans, at #50, with revenue of around USD 12,126. [1]

This week’s returning titles span genres from Hidden Object and Tactics to MMORPG. The pattern again suggests that revenue reactivation is not concentrated in a single genre, but depends more heavily on content cycles, community engagement, and how individual games manage their existing player base.

New Releases & Major Updates: A major international IP launches as LiveOps pushes localization further

Girls’ Frontline 2: Lưu Đày officially opens Vietnamese servers

On August 27, Girls’ Frontline 2: Lưu Đày officially opened its Vietnamese servers at 10:00 AM across Android, iOS, and PC. Developed by MICA Team under Sunborn Network Technology, the game is published locally by THS Game, with Vietnamese language support available from launch. [4]

The title is a sequel to the Girls’ Frontline franchise and uses turn-based 3D tactical RPG gameplay. The server launch was accompanied by activities and rewards designed for players during the opening period.

Bringing an international IP to market through a local publisher, full Vietnamese localization, and market-specific operations continues to reflect a relevant market-entry model for midcore titles with a strong emphasis on narrative and characters.

For games such as Girls’ Frontline 2, localization does more than reduce onboarding friction. The ability to deliver story content, operate events, manage communities, and support players in the local language can directly affect whether existing awareness of an IP can be converted into an active long-term community in Vietnam.

Liên Quân Mobile brings Tò He into its mid-season LiveOps

On August 27, Liên Quân Mobile rolled out a mid-season update for its Ngày Hội Liên Quân version. Alongside hero balance changes and gameplay optimization, the update opened a new series of events from August 28. Among them, Hành Trình Tò He allows players to obtain the limited Vietnamese-themed Wisp Tê Tò He skin for free, along with an emote, animation, and profile frame. [5]

Tò He is a traditional Vietnamese folk toy. Incorporating its imagery directly into a skin and in-game event shows how localization can become part of a game’s product and LiveOps pipeline, rather than being limited to translation or external communications.

For a title that has operated in Vietnam for nearly a decade, locally inspired content can create additional emotional touchpoints and a stronger sense of familiarity for the domestic community. For international publishers, it is also an example of how local relevance can be built directly into a game through cosmetics, collectibles, and events rather than relying solely on localized advertising.

Esports & Community

Esports Highlights & Tournament Updates: PMPL Vietnam returns to the offline stage after four years

PMPL Vietnam Fall 2026 Grand Finals to take place offline in Hanoi

On August 25, organizers announced that the 2026 PUBG Mobile Pro League Vietnam Fall Grand Finals will take place from September 4–6 at Tương Mai Sports Hall in Hanoi. This marks the first time in four years that a PMPL Vietnam final will return to an offline format with a live audience. [6]

The event will bring together 16 teams that qualified through the League Stage. In addition to competing for the domestic championship, the top two teams will earn the right to represent Vietnam at the 2026 PMGO SEA Finals Season 2 in Malaysia.

Bringing the Grand Finals back to a physical venue adds value that an online format cannot fully replicate: live fan experiences, community activities, sponsorship inventory, and opportunities for teams, KOLs, and audiences to interact directly.

For publishers and partner brands, the return of large-scale offline esports also reinforces the role of tournaments as a community platform, where value comes not only from livestream audiences but also from physical experiences and commercial activities built around the community.

Industry & Business Developments

Studios, Publishers & Partnerships: ANANTA prepares for Vietnam as esports continues to attract brand investment

VNGGames to publish ANANTA in Vietnam

On August 26, NetEase Games and Naked Rain announced that VNGGames will publish ANANTA in Vietnam. The urban open-world RPG is scheduled for a global launch on January 15, 2027. [7]

ANANTA had already completed an important regulatory step before the announcement. Vietnam’s official licensing database records that the game received G1 license No. 493/QĐ-PTTH&TTĐT on August 10, 2026, with VNGGames Co., Ltd. listed as the publisher in Vietnam. [8]

From a market-entry perspective, the notable point is that licensing and local publishing arrangements were completed well ahead of launch. For a large international title, preparing regulatory compliance, localization, community operations, and publishing infrastructure before release can significantly reduce friction when entering a market with specific licensing requirements such as Vietnam.

ANANTA therefore illustrates how the role of a local publisher extends beyond marketing and distribution to connecting international developers with Vietnam’s regulatory, operational, and community ecosystem.

realme continues its partnership with Đấu Trường Danh Vọng and Team Flash

On August 27, realme was announced as the Official Sponsor of Đấu Trường Danh Vọng Winter 2026, while also continuing as the Smartphone Partner of Team Flash’s Liên Quân Mobile division. This marks the third consecutive Đấu Trường Danh Vọng season supported by the brand. [9]

Đấu Trường Danh Vọng Winter 2026 brings together nine teams and offers a total prize pool of up to VND 6.75 billion, with competition beginning on August 29.

A consumer technology brand maintaining its investment across multiple seasons is more meaningful than a one-off activation. It suggests that esports is being used as a long-term marketing channel to connect with younger, gaming-oriented consumers while bringing greater continuity to tournament and team activations.

From an industry perspective, multi-season partnerships also help expand esports’ commercial value beyond direct game revenue through sponsorships, devices, brand activations, and community programs.

Marketing & User Acquisition Trends: SocialPeta and Gamota release the 2026 Southeast Asia market report

On August 26, SocialPeta and Gamota officially released the 2026 Southeast Asia Mobile Game Marketing Report, covering market scale, monetization, advertising activity, and creative trends across Southeast Asia, with a dedicated deep dive into Vietnam. [10]

The report shows that audience scale and monetization value do not always move together across the region. In Vietnam specifically, H1 2026 data indicates that downloads declined year over year while revenue increased, with performance becoming increasingly differentiated across subgenres.

On the marketing side, the number of active advertisers across Southeast Asia continues to rise, while the share of new advertisers remains relatively low. This suggests that competition is increasingly being driven by existing publishers raising investment and continuously refreshing their creative pipelines.

For publishers evaluating opportunities across Southeast Asia, this reinforces an important point: market size should not be the only factor in market selection. Player value, product–market fit, localization, and the ability to execute UA effectively in each country can produce very different outcomes even in markets with relatively large user bases.
